A somewhat overdue facelift: Alfa has updated the Giulia and Stelvio models
The Italian car company woke up a bit from its winter sleep. This year it has already presented the new Tonale and is now showing the Giulia and Stelvio models after modernization.
Lovers of the Alfa Romeo brand, which of course has waned somewhat after years of little activity by this brand, can rest easy for now. Even after the modernization, both the sedan Giulia and the larger SUV Stelvio will remain powered exclusively by internal combustion engines.
However, the facelift itself comes a bit at the last minute. Both mentioned models have been with us for six years. At the same time, established car companies usually replace the older generation with a new one after only seven years, while a facelift comes after four to five years.
You can see how the cars look now in the photo gallery.
Visually, not much has changed for both cars. After all, it wasn’t much needed either – they still look very good. Nevertheless, the new version can be distinguished from the previous one. Mainly thanks to the headlights.
These have acquired diode technology and are additionally adaptive with a matrix function. The lines of daytime running lights are divided into three segments. Thanks to this, its affinity with the new Tonale model is clearly visible, and they also refer to the historic SZ Sprint Zagato car.
Alfa Romeo finally has a new car: the Tonale model is a smaller SUV
There are also other lights at the back, additionally covered by smoked glass. The most striking innovation in the interior is the replacement of the classic instrument panel with a digital panel.
New version of the Competition
Both the Giulia and the Stelvio are rear-wheel drive only in their base versions. However, all-wheel drive will continue to be offered.
Under the hood will be diesel units with either 160 or 210 horsepower. So far, the only announced “gasoline” engine is a turbo engine with 280 horsepower.
The Alfa automobile company celebrates 110 years. However, Alfa Romeo is ten years shorter
Competizione becomes the new trim level for both cars. You can recognize it by the special matte shade of gray and the red painted brake calipers.
The equipment includes, for example, 21-inch wheels, a leather interior with red stitching, a Harman Kardon audio system, and electronically controlled shock absorbers.
Both cars will go on sale in the first months of next year.
