Javorcic-Venice, at the root of a failure. Baldini, those changes just n. The (final) thorns of Padua. Tedino and Pavanel, the smiles of Trento and Trieste. Verona, seven knockouts and a collapse that starts from afar

The long football weekend ends with two very significant commitments for two big names in our area. Verona loses for the seventh consecutive time and falls to the last place of the degree, also reached by the Cremonese. The epilogue of a long journey in the summer, with the sale of three greats, of which only Simeone shines with its own light. Grigio Caprari in Monza, Barak not received in Florence. Hellas plays a generous match with Roma, who struggle in eleven against ten and have to cling to the prowess of a baby to conquer Bentegodi. Verona are in difficulty especially in the defensive phase, where Henry had started well, but then got lost along the way. Verdi’s injury in the warm-up did not help, the rest was foolish by Tameze, who gave the equalizer to the Giallorossi, not to mention the insane intervention of Dawidowicz, the real watershed of the match. Salvation is not impossible, but if Verona is last, it is clear that the balance is definitely tipping to one side. And it is not clear where or how a team that has structural limits can change gears.
The other half of Monday evening brings with it an unequivocal verdict from Garilli. As of today, October 31st, Padova has shown that they are not a top-ranking team. I also win with the small ones. You spend the day in Crema, you pass the dull draw with Virtus Verona, but the third (half) misstep against low-ranking teams is one of those guys. The result is weighed down by a ghost goal by Franchini not granted, but it must also be said that there was probably a penalty not given to Piacenza that could change the match. The team took the lead early, but then stopped playing and in the final minutes, despite Valentini’s entry, suffered the 1-1 goal after failing the 2-0 with Liguori, repeating the unwelcome encore with Novara. If Padova does not laugh, Vicenza is even worse, who have already lost four times to date, definitely too much for a team that wants to win the championship. Certain choices by Baldini do not convince, which could have saved Cavion’s replacement after half an hour, a humiliation that the person concerned did not deserve. Just as it is a sign of poor balance to adapt Greco in a role not his own before soundly rejecting him at the first half still in progress. We are not really there, for a technician who is leading the strongest team in the league (at least on paper) without demonstrating that he really has the team in hand. For now he resists in his place, but with so many question marks about managing him. Congratulations to Bruno Tedino who, slowly, is arranging the team. The Trento that conquers Lecco brings with it many happy notes, starting with the growth of Saporetti, who is proving to have absorbed the leap in the category and more generally of the whole team, well fielded by the Treviso coach. As I have already had occasion to underline, Trento is worth much more than the classification position it occupies and with a capable coach can climb positions. The first victory of the Pavanel management, which is beginning to make a tangible contribution, should also be welcomed as merit. No, everything didn’t work out with Mantova, so much so that in the final they risked a draw, but it is no coincidence that the draft of 4-2-3-1 we talked about last week and that we saw during the race paid off. Ganz played more inside the area, where he knows how to be lethal and the recovery of Minesso, a fundamental player for this Triestina, is being sought. He is not yet in top condition, but we must insist, because he is one of the keys to the halberd climb after a nightmare start.
The other big theme of the week is undoubtedly the exemption of Ivan Javorcic. To date Andrea Soncin has concrete possibilities to replace him, even if some mechanisms of what happened in the last 48 hours escape. From a technical point of view, Javorcic had become objectively indefensible. The only game to remember about his management is the 4-1 in Cagliari, which, however, was not followed by a string of results and, on the contrary, preceded a further involution. Five defeats in six home games at the end of October is an absolutely inadequate performance, which has put the Croatian coach with his back to the wall. In all evidence, his Venice has never been a team and the fortuitous clash on the pitch between Tessmann and Cuisance during the Venice-Ascoli course is the mirror of what Venice is experiencing. A hodgepodge of good players taken individually, but who have never been able to act by helping each other. In our opinion, Soncin would be a good choice, because he knows the environment as well as the group and seems like a technician capable of enhancing their individualities. We do not have the crystal ball and we have no absolute certainty that in the end he is really the chosen one, but the possibilities are there. Tomorrow we will know something more. Sure, Niederauer’s things about how far it didn’t work convince little it looks rather like a mirror climb for himself and his team. Javorcic has specific faults, but those who built the team and created a certain toxic environment around those who take the field should ask themselves if all the choices were really in line with the needs of the team and the category. Javorcic paid for the inexperience in B, demonstrating that what was highlighted in the comments of last season was not taken into consideration by those who today find themselves handling the Venice toy. With a higher salary than last season, today the team is penultimate, in difficulty, a prisoner of uncertainties and personalities that lead nowhere on the pitch.
There remain the scattered pills that close this editorial. Udinese stopped, drew in Cremona and would never have been able to continue such a frenzied march. It remains in an excellent classification position, but will have to get used to considering that the opponents now have knowledge and that they have found adequate countermeasures to deal with it. Südtirol continues to amaze, play an excellent match in Ferrara and take home a draw that is worth a lot. It is difficult to score him, it is difficult to put it down, it is difficult to find its weak points, which are still there. Bisoli has so far made a masterpiece that we will never tire of underlining. The Citadel stands up. He does it in the most difficult game psychologically, the one against the last of the class, despite the psychological absences. The danger zone of classification is now further away and we can look forward to the future with greater optimism. Note of merit for Giacomo Beretta: he scores a true center-forward goal and shows that, if he is in condition, the category can handle it all right, making his coach sleep soundly even when there are no leading players like Baldini and Asencio. Until next time
