Melgaço: It’s two and a half to cycle in the Portuguese Cup cyclocross
Two and a half occurrences of cyclists were present this Sunday in Melga in the 1st stage of the Portuguese Cup (CRO). The initiative, also scoring for the Minho Cyclocross Championship 2022/23, took place on the cyclocross track next to the Internship Center.
Jointly promoted by the Minho Cycling Association, Melsport – Melgaço, Desporto, the Municipality of Melgaço e Lazer EM and the União Velocipédica Portuguesa – Portuguese Cycling Federation, the event was aimed at the categories of juveniles, cadets, juniors, sub -23, elites and masters.
“I think the number of participants is nice. It is the result of the agreement that we have with the Galician federation and has a tendency to grow. Cyclocross is increasingly being implemented in the national cycling scene, with more and more athletes”Jorge Domingues, Executive Manager of the Internship Centre, told Rádio Vale do Minho.
More Portuguese than Galicians in the 1st stage of the Portuguese Cyclocross Cup

Many Galicians on the track, but the Portuguese took the majority this time, confirming the words of Jorge Domingues.
“Cyclocross in Spain has a brutal tradition. In Galicia alone, between October and November, there are six or seven international competitions. One day we will get there”finished with a smile.
The CRO Portugal Cup is an official trophy of the UVP/Portuguese Cycling Federation and for athletes with a sports affiliation license for all and also athletes who subscribe to the daily affiliation for the event.
