The breathtaking video was actually shot in 2017 by a photographer in the Swedish ski resort of Vemdalen. However, the clip went viral again this week, reminding internet users that nature’s beauty is timeless.
“Beautiful and breathtaking,” wrote one user. “Wow that must have been impressive to be there,” added another.

A third user explained, “The name of the phenomenon is Sun Dog. It occurs due to refraction of sunlight in ice crystals in the atmosphere”. A fourth commented simply: “Nature is amazing!!”
Meanwhile, according to Newsweek, the Sun’s halo, also known as the ’22 degree halo’, is an optical phenomenon. They are usually detected in cold environments and occur due to sunlight refracting in millions of hexagonal ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. It has the shape of a ring with a radius of about 22 degrees around the sun or moon.
