Let fencing be fun for the little ones, believes the expert from Debrecen
Section manager Serra Bendegúz talks about the operation and season of DSI Debrecen’s fencing section on the club’s website. – As we look around the room, it is palpable and clearly visible to the eye that the new fencing season is in full swing – the specialist began, interrupting his thoughts.
In sports, the different age groups have their “seasons” running parallel to each other, but staggered in time. When compiling the club’s competition program, calculations must be made with the main competitions of both youth and adult athletes. “For the youngest, one season – if you like – lasts from September to June, but the foundation starts already in August, the cadets actually end their regular season with the world championships in April, and they start their next season in May,” summed up the specialist, who added that in the case of the adults the WC usually takes place around July-August, as a kind of season finale, and then they start again in November.
– The interested children are always welcome to compete at DSI Debrecen, but the structure of the season is completely different for amateurs and beginners – Serra Bendegúz. It is worth knowing about the fencers of the association that it is no coincidence that they train in the fencing hall on Faraktár Street, because the club is in close cooperation with the Békessy Béla Vívóklub. Common interests and common goals drive the two teams forward, as it is easier to develop in this way. And what are these goals? Serra Bendegúz summed up his role so that the children enjoy what they are doing, be in a good community, exercise should be a close and defining part of their lives, love fencing, and spread the word about the sport. Everything is provided for the most talented to compete. – We also offer individual training and customized development structures. We treat separately those who dream of the world championship title and those who “just” want to play sports, we are receptive to both segments, he continued.
Finally, Serra Bendegúz said that the club’s preferred weapon type is dueling, but they also have competitors in the other two, in short, there is life in all areas of fencing at DSI Debrecen.
