When you can watch Mattea Roach on Jeopardy! in November | City | Halifax, Nova Scotia
Thein what can aptly be described as Nova Scotia’s Super Bowl for trivial fools Danger! Superchamp Mattea Roach will take the Alex Trebek stage again for the show Annual Tournament of Champions. She will compete against other top contestants from last year, competing to be crowned the best of the best and win a $250,000 prize. The Halifax native completed her first run on the quiz show in May after winning 23 games and taking home $560,983 – earning a spot in Danger! “Leading Trance of Legends” as the fifth best J! all-time leader in both games won and cashes won.
But Roach isn’t the only legendary player returning for this year’s TOC. She will face Amy Schneider and Matt Amodio, who have the second-longest (40-match) and third-longest (38) hitting streaks in the game’s history, respectively. Also in the tournament is Ryan Long, the 10th winner of the J! champion with 16 wins. Simply put, this is the most stacked Tournament of Champions to date.
The tournament kicks off on Monday, October 31 and begins with six quarterfinal matches. We won’t see Roach until Tuesday, Nov. 8, when the competition rests and she’ll play a friendly exhibition game with Schneider and Amodio. As the top three players, they automatically advanced to the semi-finals. Schneider will compete in the first semifinal on November 9, Amodio in the second on November 10 and Roach in the third on November 11. The winner of each of these matches advances to the finals and whoever is first to win three matches in the finals wins the tournament.
Again, if you want to tune in to cheer on the Haligonian J! champion, her first episodes are on November 8 and 11, and stay tuned for updates from The Coast if she makes it to the finals. If you have cable, Danger! airs at 8:30pm on CBS. Episodes usually end up on YouTube long before that, but you didn’t hear that from us.
