Sure thing at 7:2 – Hannover Scorpions shoot down Krefeld

The Hannover Scorpions have coped well with their first defeat of the season in the ice hockey league. Two days after the 2:5 at the Crocodiles Hamburg, coach Kevin Gaudet’s team clearly defeated the Krefeld EV 7:2 (3:0, 1:1, 3:1). It could have been – or should have been – even clearer.
Mellendorf. If the chances had been used more consistently, the Scorpions would have had to win by double digits on Tuesday evening. After all, in front of 605 spectators in the ARS Arena, they made things clear in the first third. Andy Reiss, actually not a top scorer, scored to make it 1-0 (14th). Louis Trattner (16th) and Robin Thomson (17th) increase the gap from 51 seconds to 3:0.
Around half of the season, the Scorpions play big chances quickly every half minute. The disc felt like it was already in the goal on occasions from Brandon Alderson, Pascal Aquin, Reiss or Alex Heinrich. But either Krefeld’s goalie Jonas Gähr made an excellent save – or the Scorpions players missed the empty goal.
