FIFA: Portugal reaches the best position ever in the women’s ranking
Portugal rose to the 23rd position in the FIFA women’s ranking, according to the most recent update, published this Thursday, which translates into the highest place in women’s history for the country in the hierarchy.
The women’s team rose four places from the previous update, dated August 5, when Portugal was placed 27th. It surpassed Ireland, Scotland, Russia and Colombia.
Since then, Portugal has won all four games it has played, against Serbia and Turkey in the group stage of qualifying for the 2023 World Cup and, in Pay qualification, against Belgium and Iceland, two teams of superior classification.
This update proves to be decisive to define the heads of the series of the draw of the Pay intercontinental competition for the 2023 World Cup, to be held on Friday. A stage that takes place from February 17th to 23rd, in New Zealand.
With the update, these are the selections choices that enter the Pay intercontinental: Portugal 23rd, Chile 38th, China Taipei 40th, Thailand 41st, Papua New Guinea 50th, Paraguay 51st, Haiti 56th, Panama 57th, Cameroon 58th and Senegal 84th. Given as a continental condition, there can be no more than one selection of Continental selection as head of the series, Papua Nova will be series head and Thailand, falls to the selections of pot 2.
