Toulouse. La Reynerie is told in watercolor
The Reynerie “Banlieuz’arts” exhibition, which for more than two months honored its artists of all generations and all styles, has just ended. At the origin of the event, the watercolourist Annie Dufay Conter, director of publication of the inhabitants’ newspaper “Reynerie Miroir”, wanted to extend this highlighting with a book entitled “Voyage à la Reynerie au fil de l’eau and feather 2012-2022″. In this collection of around sixty watercolors accompanied by texts, she talks about this neighborhood where she has lived for 10 years now, and which she loves so much. Its heritage with its castle, its dovecote, its Candilis buildings, its inhabitants of all colours, its open-air market, its shared gardens. She also talks about her difficult times, the demolition of the Gluck building, the confinement, and finally her dramas. In 2017, Annie witnessed the settling of accounts and the murder of a young man live.” I went home and reproduced the scene from memory: the blood, the family’s cries of pain, the dumbfounded onlookers”. But for Annie, this district that amazes her is not reduced to that. “This trip to La Reynerie was limited to a small area around Place Abbal, and sometimes to what I could see from my window, but so many beautiful things are happening there that I couldn’t quite show”, regrets Annie. In her book, she also pays tribute to the sports educators in the neighborhood, especially from the yacht club, who, she says, do “a wonderful job with the children”. And because she often paints from photos, she does not forget two photographers who inspired her a lot, Jehanne SBX and Jean-François Le Glaunec.
