ALL ANTWERP. “I’ve been alone for most of my life and I think that’s totally okay” (Antwerp)
Every weekday our reporter and photographer pick a casual passer-by off the street for a nice conversation. Want everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Danielle Dubois (63).

“I’m on my way to Den Bleek service center. There’s a party going on and I’m going to party with it. I live alone and have been alone most of my life. I’m totally okay with that. I wouldn’t want it any other way. I’ve been married for a while and also have a son, but actually I like to be on my own. I could totally relate to that. I’m not much at home anyway. I’m always away, I have a lot of friends, a lot of hobbies and a lot of places to go.”
“I am a volunteer at the UZA. At the time I studied commerce and worked in an office all my life. But I always wanted to work in healthcare. As a nurse. I studied A1 for two years, but in the end I stopped due to circumstances. I have always regretted that.”
“Now I ended up in care as a volunteer. I work half a day a week at the hospital reception. I receive the people, drive the wheelchair or show the way. I get a lot of satisfaction from that. I enjoy helping others.”
“You will also find me in the evening school. I follow Greek. I like going to Greece, I like Greek music and I wanted to learn the language. But it is not easy. I am now in my second year and I can already draw my plan a little bit. So you see: I’m doing a good job.”
