An 18-year-old young man assaulted a Toulouse notary on August 26, hoping to steal his car. The suspect was tried on Thursday before the Toulouse Criminal Court.
It is an attack that makes an impression because no one is safe from this kind of armed attack.
On August 26, a Toulouse notary spent the evening with relatives. Then around 11 p.m., this 48-year-old man decided to return to his home to retrieve an object. At the wheel of his Mercedes GLC coupé cabriolet, the notary travels through the city before parking in front of his home, Quai de Tounis in the heart of Toulouse.
When he gets out of his car, the forties is quickly avoided by a young man. This stranger, dressed in shorts and a T-shirt, orders him to hand over the keys to the Mercedes. And to convince him to do it quickly, the respondent brandishes a pistol and then shoots in the air. Scary.
Out of fear or reflex, the notary does not stop. On the contrary, he runs to seek help. But the suspect catches up to him, hits him with his gun and shoots again in the air. The bloodied victim struggles and manages to escape before alerting a crew of municipal police officers patrolling the area.
taser and fake gun
By chance, the suspect had not had time to leave the city center. He will be apprehended a few minutes later, in possession of the fake gun but also a powerful Taser. This young adult, he is 18 years old, confessed everything during his police custody. A hearing during which he even hinted that he had already robbed several people…
This Thursday, the defendant was tried before the Toulouse Criminal Court, only for the facts of August 26. During the hearing, Me Jocelyn Momasso-Momasso, lawyer for the civil parties, recalls the trauma reduced by this attack. His pleading is heard by the public prosecutor, who requires 3 years of imprisonment. But the court is more lenient. The attacker was sentenced to 18 months in prison, accompanied by a suspended sentence with probation (SME).
