The CCI France Canada organizes an exploration mission for the Monaco Economic Board
As part of an association with the CCI France Canada, the Monaco Economic Board (MEB) was able to travel to North America for a “mission to explore the Canadian ecosystem”. The organization was accompanied by seven companies from the principality. Coming from the fields of tech, consulting, finance or even commerce and law, these groups were able to discuss with local players with a view to a possible establishment.
Extend Monegasque international collaboration to Franco-Canadian companies
For this first mission to America, the MEB delegation spent two days in Quebec and then in Toronto. This linking of Canadian and Monegasque groups has enabled market forecasting and the conclusion of economic agreements. In addition to the CCI France Canada, Monaco has signed a cooperation agreement with the Société de promotion de l’économie de Rimouski (Quebec).
The progress of the mission revealed a presentation of the Quebec ecosystem and a meeting with local representatives. The CCI France Canada had scheduled networking operations with partner groups over the two days. Monaco was able to discuss with the host companies, such as the Fasken law firm in Montreal or the Desjardins bank in Toronto, but also with external stakeholders. So many contacts allowing the Principality to better understand this “essential North American market” according to the MEB.
An Assessment of the U.S. Innovation Market
Beyond expanding its international economic partnerships, the MEB’s objective was to immerse itself in the field of innovation, which is highly developed in Canada. The second day of exploration therefore focuses mainly on presentations and visits to companies in the sector. After an overview presentation, the delegation was able to visit the premises of Centech in Montreal, the main incubator of medtech and deeptech companies.
To wrap up the trip, the delegation traveled to Toronto, “Canada’s largest technology hub”. The program includes a visit to the MaRS Discovery District innovation center. “We have a lot to learn from these North American metropolises that place innovation and tech at the heart of the economy,” concluded the MEB in its report. This opening to the North American market was an opportunity for Monegasque tech companies to immerse themselves in Canadian strategies and plan future collaborations.
