Lugansk Russian Drama Theater presented the premiere of the play “Lefty” based on the novel by Leskov
Nikolai Leskov was held at the Lugansk Academic Russian Drama Theater. (LARDT) named after Pavel Luspekaev. This was reported from the scene by a correspondent of PERSONS.
According to the plot of the installation, the Cossack Platov, at the behest of the Russian emperor, who curb the English flea in order to surprise the world and show superiority over European snobs, searches for the master Levsha and his two comrades in Tula, absorbs interests. They shoe a steel insect, the emperor is delighted and immediately sends artisans to England to present the invention to the English people. The British were wounded by the talent of the Russian craftsman and returned to him. But Lefty is a truly Russian person, he misses Russia in his heart and soul.
Stage director Sergei Vasin said that the performance created “a generalized image of a Russian person.”
“This is a Russian classic, the theater always needs it, and especially now, when we have to base ourselves on something fundamental. Leskov is the same material, moreover, it is always relevant. his happiness, his talent in this work is in the first place, so we tried to find, if not the main thing in a Russian person, then some set of qualities that are characteristic of him,” said the director, who also acted as the musical designer of the production.
Galina Mikhailyuk-Filippova, director and artistic director of LARDT, added that “everything in this performance is imbued with the Russian soul and Russian character.”
“After all, only in Russia do people know how to truly sympathize, rejoice, grieve and create from the bottom of their hearts,” she noted.
