A man pushing a ball over two meters in diameter covered in clothing crossed one of Toulouse’s main shopping streets several times on Wednesday to warn of overconsumption, during the performance Sisypholia. This traveling show is the work of two artists based in Belgium: the director of Russian origin Natasha Belova and the equatorial performer Dorian Chavez.

Dorian Chavez, also in charge of the staging, pushed the 2.20 m diameter ball several times on the afternoon of October 4, 2022 along the rue d’Alsace-Lorraine, just behind the Capitol. , where many clothing stores are located. “The idea came to me in Brussels, rue Neuve, where there are also a lot of clothing stores”, explains Natacha Belova again. She also points out that “Recycling clothes is difficult” and that it is one of the dirtiest industries on the planet.”
The performance is a free interpretation of the myth of Sisyphus which reminds us, among other things, “the absurdity of work” useless imposed by Zeus and his “excess”, explains Dorian Chavez. Presented for the first time in Toulouse, Sisypholia Should take place next year in several Belgian cities, in particular in April rue Neuve, in Brussels, explained Natacha Belova. While waiting for its journey to other countries, the ball of clothing continues on its way until Saturday, October 8, 2022 in the streets of Toulouse.
