– Deport Haaland
While the Manchester City fans and the pundits are “totally hypnotized” by the 22-year-old youngster, it is a huge group that trembles:
The supporters of the 19 other teams in the Premier League.
Now the jokes are about how to stop the Haaland round.
One of them is to have him deported from the UK and banned from the Premier League. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola had the joke explained during Friday’s press conference.
– It’s a good joke, he said with a smile.
A screen dump of a signature campaign on the pages of the British government is going viral on social media.
It is claimed to have received an enormous amount of signatures, something which is highly doubtful to be anything more than a walking story.
TV 2 has asked about a specific signature campaign on the government’s website, with the title “Deport Erling Haaland, he has turned the Premier League into a Farmers League”.
A spokesperson states that it got 21 signatures before it was moderated and removed. It was Thursday, the day after Haaland’s goal against FC Copenhagen.
– We point out that we only publish signature campaigns that meet the requirements, spokespeople write in an e-mail to TV 2.
On the Change.org website, it’s probably not like strict moderation requirements.
One person, with the somewhat suspicious username «Ten Hag’s Reds!», is asking for signatures to get Haaland banned from English football.
– Because it’s just not fair, jokes the campaign, which is mentioned by the tabloid newspaper, among others Mirror.
Another campaign on the website wants Haaland out of the UK.
– Haaland is a serious problem. He appears out of the blue and consistently destroys the saints for us hard working people, quips the user.
It wasn’t just the goals that caused a stir against FC Copenhagen. The superstar’s very cozy page has also gone viral:
