Completion of the “Mare Secure 2022” operation, carried out within the entire Maritime Department of Emilia-Romagna
Regional data relating to the Mare Sicurezza 2022 operation (from 18 June to 18 September), implemented on the basis of the national provisions originating from the General Command of the Port Authority Corps – Coast Guard, in compliance with the specific Directives issued by Mr. Minister of sustainable infrastructures and mobility, during the period 18 June – 18 September last. This report analyzes the progress of the activity carried out and the results achieved in relation to the efforts made by the Coast Guard in favor of the community, to increase the protection of bathers and sailors, as well as compliance with the regulations relating to the public use of maritime state property. The Ravenna Maritime Department, through its Operational Department, thus directed a demanding surveillance activity along the approximately 130 km of its competence of the regional coast, coordinating the services of all the dependent Offices based in Ravenna, Rimini, Riccione , Cattolica, Bellaria, Cesenatico, Cervia, Porto Garibaldi and Goro. It was a huge commitment that saw around 200 soldiers employed daily, 10 patrol cars and 10 fast coastal boats, able to operate easily along the coast and on shallow waters, thus guaranteeing greater proximity services in favor ‘ users, with reduced intervention times. In the balne season that has just ended, there was a substantial increase in the number of tourists and vacationers at the coastal resorts, probably also due to the favorable conditional trend and consequently the presence in the sea of bathers and port units was considerably increased, with an influx particularly concentrated on weekends; the numbers for yachting traffic are also considerable, but the traffic of rescue interventions / units has passed and substantially in line with the year are mainly attributable to engine failures, which difficulties are recorded due to bad weather and sea conditions, which in some days have caused considerable prejudice to sailors, so regular consultation of the meteorological bulletins (meteomar) is always recommended, which are also continuously broadcast on radio channel 68 vhf-fm. The total number of people rescued is almost similar to that recorded in the previous one and it was mostly boaters, but also swimmers, while the limited number of dead people is attributable to illnesses and, therefore, it is worth recommending to everyone – once more – not to expose themselves to the sun nor to bathe in those hours, especially if you have lunch or have cardiovascular / health problems. In general, both for boaters and swimmers, an appeal is therefore made to the fundamental concept of self-protection, as an active form of prevention, which cannot exempt itself from common sense to avoid dangerous situations, even potential, often attributable to imprudence / inexperience. The increase in external institute services constituted a sure deterrent and together with the action initially carried out for more preventive purposes, with greater disclosure of sector regulations also thanks to the involvement of private clubs and structures, significant reduction in the activity of repression and contrast, compared to previous years. In conclusion, the results obtained during the activity carried out in the context of the “But safe 2022″ operation can certainly be considered satisfactory, given that the available resources have been exploited and also thanks to the consolidated collaboration established with the FF.PP. , local authorities and administrations, cooperatives of bathing establishments and lifeguards as well as with voluntary associations operating in the maritime sector. Finally, we always remind you of the possibility of following the basic rules and useful advice as well as the current ordinances issued by the Maritime Authorities, through the institutional website, which can be reached at www.guardiacostiera.gov.it as well as the public utility number called ” Blue number for emergencies at sea ”certified at 1530 and active every day 24h / 365 days, allowing direct contact with the nearest Coast Guard office.
