Ukraine is waiting for a tough response from the IAEA regarding Russia’s appropriation of the ZANP
Europe can remain in radiation safety only if 500 Russian militants leave the territory of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and IAEA Director Rafael Grossi were informed about the results of the meeting press service Office of the President, reports Ukrinform.
“The main issue regarding the presence of militants on the territory of the ZNPP has not yet been resolved. According to our data, which confirms our workers, there are about 500 of them. What should be done with them?” – said Zelensky.
At the same time, he emphasized that the Ukrainian side and society expects the IAEA’s reaction to the Russian government’s attempt to take over the Ukrainian nuclear power plant.
“I will say that this is an unprecedented case. that the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree obliging him to transfer the ZNPP into federal ownership. We were very much waiting for a strong statement from the IAEA in this regard. Society is very much waiting for this condemnation. In my personal understanding, this – raiding”, – he emphasized.
In his turn, Grossi emphasized that the decision of the President of the Russian Federation to transfer the Zaporizhzhya NPP to Russian ownership is a violation of international law.
Also during the meeting, the President thanked the Director of the IAEA for his assistance in the powers of the head of the ZNPP, Igor Murashov, who was kidnapped by the Russian military.
It was reported that on October 5, Vladimir Putin signed a decree according to which the occupation of the Zaporizhia NPP by the occupiers will be handed over to Russia.
