Prague in the spotlight. The entire world of journalism came together with politics at the summit
Already on Thursday morning, when the first journalists got to the hall of the riding hall, who could pick up their accreditation from half past nine, most of those present discovered to their astonishment that everything was occupied. Colleagues from the major European media were not lazy and already on Wednesday evening they literally taped all the places with papers with a reservation for their media. Some took up to ten places.
Statesmen in Prague write history. The giant summit united Europe against Putin
“This is worse than towels at the hotel pool,” said one Czech journalist who was looking for a place in vain. The organizers obviously underestimated the interest of journalists. Two to three times as many places would be needed in the peak that occurred after noon. “You can go up to the gallery, there are still some places, but without drawers,” advised one of the official organizers.
Sirloin with dumplings
While there were not enough tables, chairs and drawers, there was plenty of coffee, even of relatively good quality. The entire catering, which was a few meters away in the garden of Prague Castle in a tent near the greenhouse, also turned out quite well. Pork tenderloin with Karlovy Vary dumpling or kulajda were top notch. Just like juices or desserts.
Only vegetarians, of whom there were a lot especially among journalists from Western Europe, were not thought of much. “Strange combination, but I couldn’t think of anything better,” smiled a little unhappily one of the journalist’s vegetarians, who had Karlovy Vary dumplings with carrot puree for lunch. more journalists also sadly noted that Czech beer, for many one of the few things they knew from the Czech Republic, would not be served with lunch – everything was non-alcoholic.
President Zelenskyi also spoke at the summit in Prague. He appreciated the absence of Russia
While the statesmen who gathered at the Castle for the summit of the European Political Partnership represented the European continent, including its edges such as Azerbaijan or Iceland, journalists literally the whole world gathered in Prague. Including global media, such as American CNN or Arabic Al Jazeera.
Fight for a few sentences
The biggest crowd was after noon, when more than forty presidents and prime ministers arrived and were greeted by Prime Minister Petr Fiala at the Matyáš gate. Television and photographers from countries for which the summit was a sign that they had moved towards Europe after all fought the most for a good shot. Armenians, Georgians, television from Turkey or the Balkans.
Politicians, who actually only had a few moments when they arrived to say something to the world through journalists, behaved very differently. For a long time, President Kosmani with journalists, for example Osa, on the other hand, Serbian President Aleksandar Vlčic walked past the media with a stony face and his face around the media.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron answered a few questions in German. The success of the recording was often determined not only by sharp locations, but also by the length of the pole at the end of which was the microphone. The longest ones measured almost five meters.
“Although we do not know what we will broadcast from it. But I will remember how beautiful Prague Castle and Prague as such are for a long time,” declared one Georgian journalist in the afternoon. “For how big an event it is, I think you’ve done quite well so far,” he adds.
