The situation should diffuse in the coming days. The departments of North and Pas de Calais undergo since the beginning of the week fuel supply difficulties.
But, this Thursday, October 6, 2022, the prefecture of the North defense and security zone announced that new fuel stocks were going to arrive in the depots of the region. Make the point.
Distribution difficulties
According to the prefect, these difficulties are linked to a national social movement which affects two major companies in the oil sector and which, in Hauts-de-France, led to the shutdown of one of the four depots supplying service stations. of the region.
In a press release, the prefecture assures that “it is not a question of a fuel shortage, but of distribution difficulties, mainly in diesel”, heavily used for the benefit of economic activities. Many sectors are affected, including the agricultural profession, the road transport sector and the fishing sector.
The territorial services of the State, in conjunction with the Ministries of the Interior and Energy, requested and obtained “the release of strategic stocks” presented in the three depots in operation. The economic and passenger transport sectors will be given priority: the arrival of new fuel stocks is therefore guaranteed.
Still according to the prefecture, requisition measures are not relevant at this stage, “but they remain possible if the proper functioning of the stationary terminal is not obtained in the coming days”. Discussions with the producer concerned, Total Energies, are ongoing.
“The next supplies and the availability of strategic stocks should predict the situation for the days to come”, insists the prefect. Good news at last !
