Three simultaneous exhibitions throughout the weekend to meet the new challenges and new missions of Luxexpo. “Luxexpo will take over the colors, and will probably beat the activity records this year”, but has changed a lot, explains the CEO. This one claims a program “more dynamic, more inspiring, more committed”. The Kirchberg exhibition hall no longer simply wants to be an economic actor. “Our DNA is to contribute to prosperity in the broad sense. Culinary upcycling
The three exhibitions visited this Thursday by the Head of State fall within this perspective, starting with ExpoKlima, a “fair of solutions, which offers small answers to big questions”, according to Joëlle Welfring. The Grand Duke stopped to chat with Mara and Axel, from Benu Village. “We are focused on the circular economy, the recovery of materials,” explains Mara. The stand presents in particular pieces of clothing. “We collect used clothes to create new pieces with the fabric”, illustrates the young woman. During his visit to the stand, the Grand Duke picked up an invitation to eat, since Benu is in the process of finalizing his latest project: upcycling in the kitchen. The association is going to open a restaurant in its Benu Village on rue d’Audun in Esch-sur-Alzette. For that, “we will recover the surplus from the supermarkets and cook them”.
On the housing side, Henri visited various state actors. The new village of Elmen, which is emerging from the ground, is also well advanced. “The first inhabitant received his temporary key. He still has to do the painting and then he can move in, ”says Guy Entringen, director of the National Society for Cheap Housing (SNHBM), which is leading the project, in the form of emphyteutic drops for 99 years. Eventually, some 2,000 inhabitants are expected in the village. The actors of the climate cause, housing, public and private, are to be seen again at Luxexpo until Sunday evening. More than 70 exhibitors await visitors.
