Asvel loses at home against Milan for its entry into the Euroleague
Asvel resumed their journey in the Euroleague with a home defeat against Milan on Thursday (69-62). The Villeurbannais were crucified at the last minute. While the score was 62-61 in their favor 1’30” from the buzzer, they conceded in quick succession two three-point shots, signed Billy Baron and Kevin Pangos. Nando De Colo and Jonah Mathews then tried their luck from distance, in turn, but they both failed. And, to complete the Milan success, Kyle Hines added two additional points.
Asvel had however made a superb start, coming off very quickly on the scoreboard, to lead 20-5, after seven minutes of play. Nando De Colo delivered an excellent first period, during which he scored 16 points. But Milan patiently caught up. First alert, when the Italian team returned to 35-31 (16th). Asvel, however, gave themselves a little breather at the break (44-36).

But, on returning from the locker room, the visitors took the lead (45-44). They were able to put pressure on De Colo, who had to settle for two small points in the second half. The two teams then remained in contact. The only time Milan escaped (56-49, 27th), Asvel was able to return immediately (56-54, 30th). the mano a mano continued until the last minute and the three-point success of the Milanese.
Billy Baron and Nando De Colo were the game’s top two scorers, with 18 points. Asvel was also able to count on David Lighty (12 pts), Youssoupha Fall and Jonah Mathews (11 pts). The Villeurbannais will try to win their first Euroleague victory of the season on October 14 in Valence.
