The woman was dragged in the door by the bus for several meters and suffered serious injuries
The unfortunate event happened around half past two in the afternoon in Makovského Street in Prague 6.
“At the Sídliště Řepy stop in the direction of the center, the driver of bus number 164 locked a sixty-nine-year-old woman in the back door and then drove off. After a few meters, the woman stopped and fell to the ground,” said police spokesman Jan Rybanský.
The victim testified that the bus closed her hand in the door at the Sídliště Řepy stop and then drove off.
“After five meters the driver stopped and opened the door. At that moment, her hand gave way and fell between the sidewalk and the bus, she was seriously injured,” said police spokesman Jan Rybanský, adding that it was technically impossible for the bus to catch her hand, as the doors opened automatically. “So the woman was either held by her fingers by the door, or grabbed by her clothes,” he added. The injured woman ended up in hospital.
The police do not yet know if everything happened when the woman was getting on the bus, or if she was just running or walking next to it. “The driver didn’t notice anything. He just closed the door and drove,” said the spokesman, adding that a passenger alerted the driver to the captured woman. However, they left the scene before the police arrived.
“We would welcome any testimony from these passengers that would shed light on how the incident occurred. We ask them to report to line 158,” the police wrote.
