Previously, the authorities admitted that this academic year too, the lack of teachers in schools in the Republic of Moldova will be filled by retirees. At the beginning of the school year, there were 2,161 vacancies in educational institutions in the country, almost 200 more than last year.
The worst situation is in Ungheni, Hâncești, Nisporeni, Călărași and Ialoveni districts. The heads of education departments say that today’s young people are not interested in becoming teachers, and graduates of pedagogical faculties do not want to work in villages because of low salaries. On October 5, Teacher’s Day is celebrated in the Republic of Moldova.
