According to Smartpress.by, the decision to start the procedure for including Belarus in the SCO Council was made at the Samarkand summit, which took place on September 15-16. Earlier, the country, which currently has the status of a state observer with the organization, applied to join the SCO as a state member.
The President said that the country intends to become a full member of the SCO of Belarus in a year.
The SCO is an international organization founded in 2001. They cover India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Uzbekistan. The observer countries of the SCO are Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia, the partner countries are Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, Turkey and Sri Lanka.
