Russia withdrew the invitation of the head of ICAO to the 100th anniversary of civil aviation
October 5, 2022, AEX.RU – Russia withdrew the council’s presidential invitation ICAO Salvatore Sciaquitano to celebrate the 100th anniversary of civil aviation. The actions of ICAO in relation to Russia and Belarus are politicized, the press service of the Ministry of Transport said. This is reported RBC.
As explained in the department, during the 41st session of ICAO, operating within the UN, were rejected by the Minsk Ministry, rejecting unilateral sanctions against Russian and Belarusian carriers. The Ministry of Transport is considering the issue of a ban on flights in the airspace, “the alleged potential danger to protection from flights and other types of aircraft.”
At the same time, noted in Germany, Russia and Belarus, “all the necessary measures have been taken to carefully implement the recommendations on ensuring security, including among international ones.” “Therefore, the fact of the exclusion of draft resolutions will not affect the complete safety of air travel in the selected countries,” the ministry added.
The actions of ICAO through the mediation of Sacquitano, who “actually joined the unreasonable sanctions”, can be considered politicized, declared Ministry of Transport. “In this regard, the Russian side withdraws the president’s invitation to the Shacchitano council to participate in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of domestic civil aviation,” the ministry said.
