Global Governance in Difficult Change
On June 1-2, 2022, the Russian Council for the Intermediate International Relations (RIAC) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASS) held the Seventh International Conference “Russia and China: Cooperation in the New Premises”.
The conference is implemented annually in the implementation of the Memorandum on the Context signed by RIAC and CASS on June 25, 2016 in the nearest Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
2021–2022 there is an aggravation of the global security threat that affects the interests of Moscow and Beijing. Currently, there are acute crisis situations in relations between Russia and China and the West; instability is growing in the adjacent regions for the Russian Federation and China. On a global scale, environmental and socio-economic challenges are coming to the fore, interaction is still complicated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Even in this challenging international environment, Russia and China have succeeded in strengthening strategic coordination by working to promote equitable and fair approaches to global governance and establishment. Despite the current anti-epidemic measures, practical ties in the trade, economic and innovation phases are consistently developing.
During the Seventh International Conference “Russia and China”, Russian and Chinese diplomats and public figures, diplomats, as well as representatives of large circles and the scientific and expert community of the two countries discussed the prospects for Russian-Chinese cooperation, taking into account major challenges and threats. During the conference, a collection of articles “Global Governance in a New Chamber: Observations and Approaches” prepared by RIAC and CASS was presented.
