Reducing the travel times of the Genoa-Casella railway, the theme in the regional council
Reduce travel times on the Genoa-Casella railway. This is the subject of a question, presented during the session of the regional council on Tuesday 4 October by Selena Candia (Lista Ferruccio Sansa president).
In the question, signed by the whole group, the councilor asked the council if, in addition to the new trains, improvements are planned on the route of the Genoa-Casella line. Candia has found that it takes 58 minutes to travel the route by train compared to 56 by bus and 40 by car and that it is necessary to shorten travel times, also intervening on the route, as the new arriving trains encounter difficulties on the current one. .
Transport councilor Gianni Berrino has the regional investment plan 2020-25, which entails an expense of 9 million and 825 thousand euros for the line for interventions also on the infrastructure, and a further funding of 34 million for transport in 2020 of 20 million of which are intended for the reconstruction of the line.
Berrino noted that the regional and national funds, therefore, guarantee the adaptation of the line while to date the technical characteristics of any new trains are being defined and there has not yet been a tender for the purchase.
