The winning coalition Together for Prague 12, which consists of ODS and TOP 09, agreed with the ANO movement that they will lead the twelfth city district for the next four years. Yesterday, a memorandum was signed on future coalition cooperation in the management of the town hall. He informed about it the electoral leader of the ODS and probably the future mayor Vojtěch Kos.

A quarter of the votes cast in the elections in Prague 12 went to the coalition Together for Prague 12. In the thirty-five-member council, this means a gain of nine mandates. The second ANO also has nine mandates. The third Pirates have one less mandate. PRAHA 12 SOBĚ with four mandates, Změna pro Praha 12 with three and Občané Dvanáctka (an association of independent candidates with the support of the KSČM) with two mandates also made it to the council. This follows from the results published by the Czech Statistical Office.

In the past four years, Prague 12 was ruled by a coalition of ODS, TOP 09 and Pirates, who had Jan Adamek as mayor. The coalition had a majority of 21 votes in the assembly.

“I don’t like leaving a divided job, the voters’ trust gives us a strong mandate to strive to form a coalition again,” said Adamec shortly after this year’s elections. In the end, however, he is heading to the opposition with the Pirates. After the elections, the Pirates negotiated the creation of a collecion with Společné pro Praha 12 and PRAGUE 12 SOBĚ, but the negotiations definitely broke down yesterday and the aforementioned memorandum was signed.

According to the current deputy mayor Kos, ODS and ANO agree on practically all main program priorities. “They will be introduced as part of the coalition agreement and the defender of the constituent assembly. We have dealt with almost all of them. It did not lead anywhere, it was not possible to find another functional coalition. Please give us a chance that it makes sense and it is possible to make a good policy for the people,” wrote Kos on social networks.

In the nine-member city council, each entity will have three members, the ODS is entitled to the mayor’s contribution. This will create one club in the council with TOP 09.

“From PRAGUE 12 SOBĚ and from the Pirates, towards the ODS and TOP 09, there was clearly a will to form a coalition that would follow the direction of the current coalition in terms of personnel, principle and program. At the negotiating table, a solid offer expressing the will of a large part of the citizens of Prague 12 was presented on behalf of our clubs, and we also discussed in detail the programs of all three clubs. Even before we sat down at the table for the third time to discuss possible staffing for positions and functions in the council, ODS and TOP 09 ended negotiations with us and reached an agreement with the ANO club,” said Adamec.

Do you mind the cooperation of the ODS, TOP 09 and the ANO movement at the municipal level?

“We made an offer to ODS and TOP 09 that follows from the mandates for individual clubs and at the same time carefully balanced so that no one comes up short. During the negotiations, it was said several times that we would continue to talk about it and adjust it, but that did not happen,” said Petr Hůla, the leader of the candidate PRAHA 12 SOBĚ.

According to him and Adamek, these two entities will continue to cooperate and form the core of a constructive, critical and anti-corruption opposition. As they told journalists today, their goal will be to oversee projects such as the revitalization of OD Prior on Sofijská náměstí, development construction inside housing estates and, above all, the construction of a new primary school in Komořany.

“Thus, two of our strongest electoral groups will participate together in the care of the city district. We thank everyone once again for the trust shown and we believe that we can move the Twelve to a higher level. The way we’ve been doing it for several years,” Vojtěch Kos defended the new coalition after signing the memorandum.
