Media – Berlin – Kinemathek secures Roger Willemsen’s early TV interviews – Media
Berlin (AP) – The Deutsche Kinemathek in Berlin wants to make early television interviews by Roger Willemsen (1955-2016) accessible again. Dozens of episodes of his talk format “0137” have been digitized. “You can watch 130 programs that were previously thought to be lost in full length in our house, in the television media library,” the museum said. The Kinemathek has acquired the museum rights for it.
The “Focus Roger Willemsen” collection is scheduled to open on Thursday evening. Willemsen started his television career in the early 1990s with the talk format “0137”. The pay channel Premiere sent the talk show unencrypted to arouse the interest of potential new TV subscribers, the Kinemathek explained. “In 1994 production was stopped.”
After that, the recording tapes disappeared from the broadcaster’s archive – today it’s called Sky. “In cooperation with the “0137” producer Markus Peichl, the Deutsche Kinemathek has now been able to digitize an extensive selection of programs for the television collection and make it accessible to the public again.” The episodes should be able to be watched on site.
Willemsen is one of the best-known German intellectuals. His books include, for example, “Das Hohe Haus” and “Momentum”, on television he also moderated programs such as “Willemsens Woche”. Willemsen Star died of cancer in February 2016 at the age of 60. Today an artists’ house is housed in his villa in Wentorf near Hamburg. The Academy of Arts in Berlin shows his artistic estate.
