Canton of Zurich: Corona protective shield for events until the end of the year
The financial protective shield in connection with Covid-19 for events in the canton of Zurich will remain open until the end of the year. Organizers can submit requests until the end of October
Organizers of public events of supra-cantonal importance can, under certain conditions, continue to apply for financial support from the federal government and the cantons in the event that their event has to be canceled, postponed or severely restricted due to measures related to Covid-19. The canton of Zurich reported in a press release that the organizers can still submit applications for the guarantee of the protective shield for anticipated events up to the end of October and explains that the corresponding Covid 19 ordinance for public events of the federal government is still in force until December 31, 2022 .
According to the Canton of Zurich, the aim of the protective shield is to strengthen planning security for event companies. In the event of damage, these would bear a deductible and a deductible for the uncovered costs. The federal government contributes half of the compensation paid by the canton.
The protective shield was introduced by the federal government during the corona pandemic. At the request of the government council, the Zurich cantonal council decided on June 21, 2021 to also offer the protective shield for events in the canton of Zurich. It came into force for events from September 2, 2021 and applies to events with more than 1000 participants. (mm/fch)
