Red Bull Salzburg received Dinamo Zagreb
© Sports report
FC Red Bull Salzburg continues in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League next Wednesday. In doing so, they meet Red Bulls take on Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb from 18:45 in the Red Bull Arena. This game will be officiated by referee Andris Treimanis (LVA).
Series champion in the UCL still undefeated
FC Red Bull Salzburg probably got off to a good start and are still undefeated after two games. After strong performances, the teams AC Milan (from pot 1) and FC Chelsea (from pot 2), which are considered favorites in Group E, each drew 1-1.
The starting position before the Zagreb home game is different now and the role of favorites is not as clear as it was in the first two games. But the Croatians have also done well so far, defeating Chelsea 1-0 and already scoring three points. For Amar Dedic, however, this fact does not come as a surprise: “Dinamo are a very strong team with a lot of self-confidence, not only because of the Chelsea victory. They have won everything in the championship apart from a draw, are physically very strong and have high technical quality. We also have to hold our own against a really unpleasant opponent. But we are not an easy team to play either and we will get our chances in this duel.”
Coach Matthias Jaissle has this to say about this encounter: “We are really looking forward to the game. Champions League nights are very special nights. I’m expecting a close duel at eye level against Zagreb, in which small things will decide in the end. We have respect, but we also go into the game with confidence. Especially at home with our fans behind us, we want to bring our game onto the pitch and be bold. Dinamo Zagreb have a really good team and they have beaten a world-class team like Chelsea in the competition – that says it all.”
The Croatian champion in Salzburg
Dinamo Zagreb are not only Croatian champions, the team coached by Ante Cacic is also in the lead over Hajduk Split in the current table. The team with the two Austrians Emir Dilaver and Robert Ljubicic won 4:1 at home against Slaven Koprivnica in the 1st HNL last weekend (goals: Markovic, Petkovic, Bockaj, Ivanusevic) and after eleven matches they have ten wins and one draw standing book.
The Croatians made it into the UCL group stage by beating Bodo/Glimt (NOR) 4:1 in extra time.
