Katarina will bring bench strength and expertise to McKenzie’s dispute resolution and corporate groups.
– We are pleased to welcome Katarina to Baker McKenzie. Her combined experience from courts and legislative work in the area of company law is highly sought after and will strengthen the local competence in Stockholm. We see an increased demand from clients both in and outside of Sweden for advice in these areas, and the recruitment is part of strengthening our competence in these important areas, says Erik Forsin, Partner at Baker McKenzie.
Katarina Bilge earned her law degree at Stockholm University in 2006. She came to the agency from the Department of Justice (Department for Property and Corporate Law), where she has been deputy director for the past few years. At the Ministry of Justice, Katarina worked, among other things, on the implementation of the directives (EU) on cross-border transformations, mergers and divisions and on encouraging long-term shareholder commitment. She has also participated as a legal advisor in government investigations in the area of company law.
Katarina is a legally trained judge and has been a judge in the Swedish judiciary for several years, most recently at the Svea Court of Appeal in Stockholm. She has also served at the Stockholm District Court, where she primarily settled commercial disputes. She has also worked as an administrative lawyer at the Supreme Court. She began her judicial career as a trainee at the European Commission’s legal service in Brussels and at law firms in Stockholm and Munich.
– I am really looking forward to becoming part of Baker McKenzie’s talented team of experts and that my experience will contribute to continued growth. It feels very inspiring to join such a large international law firm as Baker McKenzie and have the opportunity to assist clients with various forms of dispute resolution and business advice, both in Sweden and all over the world, says Katarina Bilge.
