After the announcement in the past few weeks the provision has arrived that finances the feasibility study and the design for the reopening of the Rimini – San Marino railway, closed since 1944. The State Railways announce it.
The Ministry of Tourism, through its participation as an Institutional Adherent to the Italian State Railways Foundation, has defined the payment of a capital contribution to be used for this purpose. Thanks to the synergy between the Ministry of Tourism and the FS Italiane Foundation, it will be possible to concretely proceed with the drafting of the reconstruction project of the disused and suggestive railway track once crossed by the famous white-blue train.
The Rimini-San Marino railway, about 32 km long, of which 20 fall within Italian territory and the part of the ascent on the slopes of the Titano in the Republic of San Marinoit was a narrow gauge line that guaranteed the direct connection between the two until 1944. Inaugurated on 12 June 1932 on the initiative and project of the Italian government, it gave a strong boost to the economy of the Republic, and in particular to tourism.
