Following the incidents on the Toulouse side, fifteen Montpellier supporters were arrested and thirteen were even placed in police custody.
A meeting that ultimately lasted longer than expected. This Sunday afternoon, as part of the ninth day of Ligue 1, Toulouse largely won against Montpellier (4-2), to rise to the level of twelfth place in the classification of the French championship, a short length of his adversary for a day, who finds himself in tenth position. However, the second half of this match was interrupted for a good quarter of an hour, just before the hour mark, and more precisely in the 59th minute, due to incidents denounced by the two teams. The 22 actors present on the lawn of the Municipal Stadium in Toulouse seemed to complain of the effects of tear gas. This tear gas had been used, at that time, by the police, obliged to intervene, in the stands, and more precisely at the level of the zone which had been reserved for Montpellier supporters.
Two minor supporters were released
At the time of this interruption, the score was already largely in favor of Toulouse, who were leading 4-1. It should also be noted that just before this incident, the stand which was in this Montpellier club supporters’ park had to be simply evacuated, following the throwing of smoke bombs by the visitors’ supporters. Finally, while the players of the two teams had returned to the locker room for a time, this match was then able to resume to also go to an end. At the end of this duel, still this Sunday, a total of fifteen supporters, all from the Montpellier club, were arrested on the Toulouse side, according to information shared by AFP. Thirteen of these fifteen people were then placed in police custody. The two who were not are minors and have been released, according to AFP. Before it started, this meeting had been classified as risky.
