Chaos in Budapest! Even an accident can completely paralyze traffic in the capital – Metropol
“I came two and a half hours from North Buda to my workplace, even though the accident happened in South Buda! Amazing!” – He told Comrade. Mothering passengers, tired waiting people, people late for work. This characterized him transport throughout Budapest in the morning.
“I left Budaörs early in the morning and arrived in the Népliget area 1.5 hours late. I’m fed up with this traffic in Budapest,” he grumbled Adam.
THE cause of huge traffic jams it was an accident that happened at the ramp of the Rákóczi Bridge. The capital’s management examined one by one, and there was indeed “only” one accident. A truck driver tore down the 1 overhead line on the side of the Rákóczi bridge from Buda to Pest early in the morning – but the problem could not be solved all day, and the replacement did not work.
Gyula he leaves from Albertfalva, Kondorosi út, by public transport to the Lurdy-ház at half past eight in the morning, and instead of the usual 25-minute journey time, his journey took more than an hour.
“Fuck them! If it rains, there is already chaos in traffic, now that there has been an accident, everything has stopped. I got off tram number 47 at the corner of Etele út-Fehérvári út. There was no information. I knew that tram 1 wasn’t running because there was a huge crowd at the bus stop. After a few minutes, the replacement tram came, but I had no chance to get on it. I waited at least 8-10 minutes for the next one to come, and I had to struggle to get off there as well,” complained the man, who said it was intolerable that in such a case the replacement tram and the passenger information were not organized properly.
The BKK gave no real explanation for the chaos
In response to Ripost’s inquiry, the BKK wrote that “the extent of the delay did not reach close to one hour”, they recommended that those who need a certificate of lateness is issued, so school or work absences can also be justified. According to their letter, the overhead line of tram 1 was damaged as a result of the accident, which made it impossible for the trams to run on the section between Népliget and Etele út/Fehérvári út, so replacement buses were set up.
“BKK Info staff continuously informs about real-time traffic changes in the BudapestGO application, social media and traffic information radio broadcasts. In most locations, we also provided directions with live key words to avoid confusion about the alternative means of getting there – primarily the M4 metro – but we also provided audio text information on board the affected vehicles and on the FUTÁR displays in public areas,” the transport company said in its response.
To the question of what the protocol is for such an accident, how long it takes to solve the loss of public transport on the given section or line by replacing or diverting, Ripost does not provide a meaningful answer.
