ALL ANTWERP. “I am going to Australia for a long period” (Antwerp)
Every weekday our reporter and photographer pick a casual passer-by off the street for a nice conversation. Want everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Maxence Rubbens (28).
“I started the summer at a Brussels art school. Normally I now start my higher studies in Eindhoven, but I started a bit too late and grabbed a spot at the school. That’s why I’m stuck for a year, but I have a plan: next week I’m going to Australia for eight months.”
“It would be a shame to waste years seen and one out to experience some in my life and gain experiences. This was the perfect moment to take the step. I travel without a plan in mind and calmly wait and see what comes my way. What is already certain: I arrive in Sydney, where I have found a place to stay and work for one month. After that it was time to freestyle again.”
“Australia is tropical but quite western, which greatly reduces the chance of getting lost. It’s especially important that I get the time to do my own thing. When I return on May 30, I hope to get off the plane more developed.”
“The chance that I will stay longer is small. I don’t rule it out per se, but I also have academic ambitions. And I think my mother also likes me to study a bit. But I look forward to my departure. I’m going to go to a cafe in a moment and arrange the very last things: a new bank account, a SIM card, … small things, but very important. The sooner that is over, the more relaxed I can leave.” (lava)
