Prague – The Slavia footballers won the 10th league round over Liberec 3:0 and chose the tipi of the leading team of the Pilsen table. The people of Prague lose only one point from second place to Viktoria, but the defending champion from West Bohemia has a postponed game against Brno to be thankful for. Vršovičtí scored all three goals already in the first half, when Aiham Ousou, Peter Olayinka and the best scorer of the competition Stanislav Tecl scored.
Slavia also won their fifth home match in the league and scored 26 goals. The “Red and White” partly corrected the previous defeat 0:3 in Pilsen and got into a winning mood for Thursday’s European Conference League duel with Cluj. Liberec, on the other hand, did not score for the third time in the last four rounds and dropped to fifth place.
Slavia was missing goalkeeper Mandous for health reasons, and Kolář, who last caught a competitive match at the end of April, got between the posts for the first time. Due to a loan from Liberec, the Praguers missed Tiéhi, on the other hand, for the same reason, six Slovan players could not start, including the team’s top scorer Van Buren. The match was special for both coaches – Trpišovský came to Eden from Liberec, Slovan coach Kozel played for Slavia.
From the beginning, the people of Prague confirmed their role as clear favorites and put Liberec under a lot of pressure. The overburdened visiting defense with strained strength withstood several blunders and then conceded cheaply from the penalty spot. Ous, who, unlike the two players, was not in the offside, ran onto Ševčík’s cross from a free kick, and opened the game with a header. The Swedish stopper scored for the second time in the league and for the first time in the Czech Republic and made his 5th start for Vršovické.
On the opposite side, Fukala immediately aimed only at Kolář from the first and that was the last shooting attempt of Slovan for the entire first half. The North Bohemians also scored the second goal from the air. After Ševčík’s cross from the right side, in the 23rd minute, Olayinka ran to the edge of the small area and gave goalkeeper Vliegen no chance with his header.
After a while it was even worse with the guests. After Rondič’s hold, Ousou fell in the box and referee Starý ordered a penalty after the intervention of the video referee and a review of the situation from the video. Although Tecl hesitated at first in the 29th minute and Vliegen pulled his shot onto the post, the top scorer of the league season had already made his mark from the crossbar. The national team striker scored for the ninth time in this top competition.
There was no doubt about the winner after the opening act, and in the second half the match just kept going. Immediately after the break, Vliegen caught Provod on the breakaway and the Belgian goalkeeper then dealt with Olayink’s finish in the 52nd minute. In the last quarter of an hour, he stepped in for the home and recovered striker Sora, who had not played due to injury since the opening competitive match of the season at St Joseph’s in Gibraltar in July.
In the 82nd minute, even Jurečka did not make an impact against Vliegen, and at the beginning of regulation, Kolář knocked out a shot by substitute Kozák and kept a clean sheet. Slavia avenged the 0:1 loss to Liberec from the previous match in March and defeated Slovan at home in the league for the fourth time in a row.
Post-match votes:
Jindřich Trpišovský (coach of Slavia): “We managed to enter the game well, pressing. We moved well, we combined well and created pressure in the box. This resulted in some opportunities, but we scored the first goal from a set piece. Overall, the performance in the first half was very good. In In the second half, we stopped giving chances right at the beginning, and as time went on, the intensity and quality of our game went down a bit, even though we were in control the whole game. The match ended 3-0, it’s a shame that we didn’t add another goal for a decent visit.”
Luboš Kozel (coach of Liberec): “Slavia flew at us from the first minute. We somehow survived the first 15 minutes. When I thought that the worst was behind us and that we would pick ourselves up, unfortunately we got a goal from a set piece. third penalty. It was 3-0 and the game was de facto over. At half-time the boys were sitting in the booth like wet chickens, we wanted to cheer them up a bit. Since we were missing a few players who are visiting from Slavia, some started for the first time in this highest in the starting line-up. We wanted to finish it in such a way that we don’t play the second half. The second half was better and braver from our side. Slavia, on the other hand, had more open space for quick transitions and had the match under control. I’m happy at least that we finished it somehow.”
