Pink report for the orogranata that place the winning paw on the Opening Day I ask for the enthusiasm of a never tame Faenza that had to yield to the overall energy of the “lionesses”.
The tension is palpable in the early stages with some errors in the offensive phase. Davis unlocks the board imitated by Santucci – his excellent start – and by Shepard who asserts his size in the painting. Sara Madera’s triple is worth 3 to 7 after 2 minutes and a little more.
The time out, immediately requested by Simona Ballardini, does not seem to change the inertia of the match as Kuier deposits in the opponent’s retina. Niedwzwiedzka keeps her companions afloat and Cupid’s “magic” brings the Faentine women back to a single possession. “Lella” Santucci places a triple then demonstrates “profession” in immediately a breakthrough foul. You change on the orogranate bank with the entry of Villa and Cubaj with the positive impact of the latter capable of an immediate three-point action that brings Reyer to 9 to 15. Coach Mazzon sips the energies of Shepard and Kuier and this time it is Fassina who unhinges the defense of E-Work from 6.75. Villa and Madera replicate in Hinriksdottir and the race remains at excellent levels. Madeira “fattens up” his personal scoreboard with a 3/3 to free while Umana reaches the foul bonus and Cupid with the clock stopped closes the first fraction on 21 to 25.
Rosa Cupido overcomes the tentacles of Madeira and reopens the games in the second period. The Venetian number 14 countered by the “line of charity”. Afterwards, Matilde Villa’s play alone is worth the price of the ticket even if Faenza replies blow by blow and returns to 29 to 30 thanks also to some Shepard’s mistakes under the crystals. The orogranata center is forgiven immediately afterwards with four consecutive points that are worth +4 (29-34 to -6.15). Always “Sheppie” protagonist, well assisted by her companions, on the occasion Martina Fassina, who puts the “bomb” of the first double-digit advantage (29-39 to -4.56). A little luck for Baldi who finds an undeclared table basket does not stop the march of the reyerine. Davis confirms his athletic and technical skills while keeping the morale of the red and white high. The assist of Villa for Shepard snatches open applause and just as spectacular is the penetration of Moroni who establishes the 38 to 48. Debut in the Maximum Series for the very young Anita Franchini and it is Lorela Cubaj to stretch on 38 to 46 who accompanies the teams long interval.
Shepard’s play was beautiful on her return from the locker room and the response of the Nigerian Kunaiyi was ready. Coach Ballardini’s girls wear the helmet and the gap. Santucci exploits the space created by Shepard by wedging into the painting and creating it. The Romagna women unnecessarily tighten the defensive shirts on a Shepard who seems truly unstoppable. Martina Fassina and Rosa Cupido are relentless from 6.75 and give a further acceleration to the score. Reyer plays as a team (there will be 5 players in double figures at the end) and thanks to an excellent ball circulation she finds effective conclusions reaching the maximum advantage on 53 to 67 and then closing the fraction at 58 to 69.
The assist behind Matilde Villa for the back is a further “braking point” for the show and the enthusiasm of which it was to file that the gap comes off. The lagoons take flight reaching +17 even if the E-Work has yet another jolt of pride relying on Cupid, Kunaiyi and Baldi. Umana slows down the pace and with Mariella Santucci finds a reassuring advantage (64-78 at -4.20). In the last few bars Faenza recovers some points but fails to change the outcome of a match that provided excellent indications to coach Mazzon, especially in view of Wednesday’s home match with Campobasso.
