The minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmaninwho made fight against drugs one of its properties reported via Twitter on Sunday, October 2, that since January 2021, nearly 1,000 “deal point shelling” operations are being granted each month. According to him, these operations made it possible to reduce the number of deal points by nearly 20% (from 3952 to 3233). Operations necessary in large part to Paris and Ile de France.
The large crown more affected than Paris and the small crown
After the Bouches-du-Rhône which concentrates the greatest number of operations of destabilization and dismantling of deal points, the Île-de-France logically arrives in a good place.
But, the bulk of the operations does not take place in Paris and in the inner suburbs but in the outer suburbs: Seine-et-Marne, Essonne, Yvelines and Val-d’Oise are the scene of the greatest number anti-drug operations.
Next come Paris and Seine-et-Saint-Denis and, to a lesser extent, Hauts-de-Seine and Val-de-Marne.
Between 50,000 and 80,000 euros per week
A deal point is defined by the Ministry as a place on the public highway where traffickers sell narcotics on a daily basis. The most important can carry over several tens of thousands of euros per day. And in Île-de-France, turnover can quickly climb.
In The Sunday Journal, Stéphanie Cherbonnier, head of Ofast, the anti-stups office, explains that “depending on its attendance, a major deal point, such as those in Saint-Ouen, in Seine-Saint-Denis, can bring in between 50,000 and 80,000 euros per week. Of the 699 million euros in criminal assets seized in 2021, 99 million are assumed to be drug trafficking, half of which in cash.
And tackling those deal points doesn’t mean shooting them down. Some thus tirelessly go down to the same place or nearby.
“The action of dismantling networks, we lead it. She bothers a lot of traffickers […] it must be continued because the inhabitants of these neighborhoods have the right to security, ”said this Sunday on RTL, Laurent Nuñez, the prefect of police of Paris.
