Avignon lives up to the “friend of seniors” label
Some 10,000 seniors are handed over to Avignon. Even if the European nomenclature places the over 55s in this category, it is rather a question here of the 65s and over. As every year, a Blue Week is dedicated to them. It starts this Monday and runs until Friday, closing with a reminder of the senior cultural program at the Calvet museum.
“ This is the first edition since we initiated the process of the Ville Ami des Seniors label. », Enthuses Zinède Haddaoui, assistant delegate for fraternal life (young people, senior families). After a first vote in the June municipal council initiating the process, the municipality hopes to be labeled ” in the first half of 2023 “, table Annick Walder, municipal councilor responsible for the intergenerational city and – precisely – for the city friendly to its elders. ” We will first carry out a diagnosis of the territory and then develop an action plan “explains the chosen one. Eight general themes (mobility, habitat, civic engagement, health or culture) are concerned.
The City will therefore ardently take advantage of Blue Week to talk with its seniors. The approach will not stop on Friday, since the Calvet museum will present its senior cultural program or that driving courses are scheduled from 11 to 14. Claude Nahoum, first deputy in charge of culture in particular, notes, alongside also Catherine Gay, assistant delegate for prevention and public tranquility and Johanne Textoris, elected to the garden city, that seniors » meet many of our delegations “. ” Even if we are not starting from scratch, we seek to better understand our seniors to better meet their needs. “, argues Zinède Haddaoui.
After the official inauguration on Monday at 5.30 p.m. in the peristyle of the town hall, exhibitions, forum theatre, walks, reading aloud or even film screenings are on the program.
