Athens is ready for all eventualities
Athens is ready for anything while Ankara escalates the tension and threats. Readiness messages from Dendias and Theodorikakos.
“THE Hellas is ready for dialogue with her Turkey based on International lawbut “it goes without saying that we will do everything we have to defend our country”, says the foreign minister Nikos Dendias in an interview with the newspaper “Proto Thema”.
Athens: We are ready for all eventualities
“This does not constitute a rhetorical expression. The balance of power in Aegean, the product of the backlog of the Greek people allows us to make this claim with firm confidence” he notes and adds:
“Hopefully we never get to that point. But we have to be ready for all eventualities.”
Suggestions
THE Foreign Minister notes the unprecedented escalation of Turkish provocations “with a crescendo of anecdotal statements, false claims, legally unfounded accusations, and even personal insults”.
A recent example, reminds the announcement of its National Security Council Turkey, which completely reverses reality.
“As Hellas we have chosen not to follow our neighboring country down this outrageous and dangerous descent of aggressive rhetoric,” he stresses. “We maintain our composure and the confidence given to us by our clear positions, which are based on the strength of International Law, as well as the deterrent capacity of our Armed Forces”.
“We have stated repeatedly and in all sincerity that we are ready and willing for a constructive and meaningful dialogue with Turkeywhich can only be conducted on the basis of International Law and the International Law of the Sea,” he noted.
Unfortunately, however, he says the other side does not seem ready, while investing the denial with the claim that our country cannot be an equal interlocutor with Turkey diplomatically, politically and militarily.
THE Foreign Minister emphasizes that what we are experiencing today in our relations with her Turkey they are unprecedented, as for the first time the aggravation is so lasting and long-lasting, reaching a period approaching three years.
Athens: “Turkey has exceeded many expectations”
“Nowadays, we cannot only talk about escalation at the diplomatic and political level, because the Turkey has far exceeded what was expected”, he says and emphasizes that there is an orchestrated aggression on the part of Turkey against Greece.
“We are facing a mixture of extreme nationalism, revisionism, and an attempt to reverse reality”, he notes and underlines that the theory of internal consumption declarations is “over-enrichment”.
Asked to comment on the Turkish position that Greece “dragged” the US government into the decision to block the sale F-35 to Erdogan and is now lobbying to delay the upgrade of the Turks F-16, Mr. Dendias states:
“Our country does not “tow” or “seduce” anyone, let alone the USA.”
Athens: Erdogan knows that Greece has become stronger
Citizen Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos also sent a message of readiness, speaking to SKAI today.
“Every other day we actually hear more and more extreme and aggressive statements from Turkish politicians. Mr. Erdogan knows that Greece is greatly strengthened militarily and has strengthened its position, with strong geostrategic alliances. This is evidence that makes Mr. Erdogan spiral out of control and lash out rhetorically.
His plans don’t work out Evro. There is the Greek Police who, in cooperation with the Greek Army, have put a stop to the illegal immigration flows that Mr. Erdogan is trying to send organized and continuously. There’s no way it’s going to do anything. The borders are inaccessible,” he stressed.
They are building a fence in Evros
He added: “The CYSEA has decided the construction of the fence along the entire river Evros, for an additional 140 kilometers and very soon there will be announcements. We are ready to face the difficulty on his border line Evros. With composure, with unity, with readiness, with determination we face the threats”.
The T. Theodorikakos he also noted that “our government’s effort on the Evros today finds international support”. “Everyone today wants Greece to stop the illegal migration flows there. Because that’s where Europe’s border with Turkey is, that’s where its border is Western world with the Turkey. That is why Europe must support our country in the great effort it is making”, he added.
