San Michele, Sunday 2 October last day of the Fair
After Saturday 1 October – rewarded by a favorable weather and animated by the challenges of the national bracelet football championship – the 650th edition of the Fiera di San Michele ends on Sunday 2 October, with numerous initiatives and stands in the center city. Stalls, specialized sectors and food stands will be active throughout the day (from 8.30 to 22), with plants, flowers and agricultural producers in Piazza Ganganelli, the markets in Via Battisti, De Bosis, Saffi and Don Minzoni, creative craftsmen in piazza Ganganelli and the food stands in squares Marconi and Marini. At the arena of the Supercinema it will be possible to visit “La chèsa di gazott” – exhibition of canaries and other caged birds – and “La corte degli animali”, market exhibition of pets, equipment for animals and feed. From 9 to 19 in Piazza Ganganelli there will be the Fest-Agricola, a market of producers created in collaboration with Cia and Coldiretti, while the little ones will be able to find in Piazza Marini, from 10 to 20, the merry-go-rounds and other attractions dedicated to them. The program of events of the day is also rich, largely dedicated to animals. From 9 to 18, in the arena of the Supercinema, “The small farm” will be set up, with the farmyard animals presented by Simone Garattoni: two ponies, a donkey, a goat, a sheep, a cow and a horse.
The 15th edition of the dog show organized by Anps and Uisp – Dog Groups will start in the morning at the Sferisterio: registrations are scheduled from 8.30 to 9.30, then judgments until 12.30. In the afternoon, from 2.30 pm, there will be performances of research people and detection demonstrations, followed by the parade of the mestizo and the junior handler – for young dog lovers up to 16 years – until the conclusion with the catwalk of the best in show and the awards. The Nordic walking tour organized by the Corposamente association will also start from the Campo della Fiera. Starting from the city center, you will walk along the path that runs along the Uso river, immersed in nature. Nordic walking will be explained: what it is, what it is used for, how to practice it and its health benefits at any age. The activity, suitable for everyone from 8 years of age, is free: even the sticks are made available for free. In the afternoon, however, the Pro Loco will lead a guided tour to discover stories, myths and legends between caves and the historic center, from the White Lady to the Running of the Bulls, from the Maga Sghetta to the Lion, from Secret Escape Routes to the Ribess, to end in mysterious caves with final toast. Departure at 4 pm from the Iat / Pro Loco office, in via Battisti 5, lasts about 2 hours and costs 12 euros per person (free up to 8 years, 5 euros from 9 to 14 years); reservations recommended at 0541/624270. On Sunday 2 October, as well as in the following days at the Fair, the seventh edition of the “Onion in the plate” initiative continues, a tour among restaurants that include onion-based dishes in their menus, with traditional recipes or created by chefs .
Nine clubs have joined: Calycanto, Da Mario, Il Lavatoio Bistrot, L’Arcangelo, Osteria Da Oreste, Osteria La Sangiovesa, Ristorante Lazaroun, Ristorante Zaghini and Trattoria del Passatore. Finally, at the Musas, from 3.30 pm to 7 pm it is possible to visit the exhibition with objects from the old Museum of the tambourine and the bracelet ball, created by FoCuS in collaboration with the associations Lorenzo Amati and Pro Loco Santarcangelo, which will remain open on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays at the same time until Sunday 13 November.
The last day of the San Michele Fair will also be a special moment for the visit of a group of tour operators and international agencies specialized in “food and wine” tours from the United States, England, Switzerland and other countries, who will stop in Santarcangelo on the morning of Sunday 2 October during their tour to discover Emilia-Romagna – coordinated for the organizational aspects by Visit Romagna – as part of the project “Italian travel villages”. Starting from Emilia, moving with electric vehicles, the group will reach Santarcangelo after a few stops in the Province of Forlì-Cesena. The tour operators in Santarcangelo will be appointed by the Pro Loco, which will lead them on a visit to the Malatesta Fortress, along the medieval village, to the ancient Marchi printing house and to the caves, before with the presentation and lunch at a restaurant in the city center.
