Meetings on the terrace: a new media to present those who move Rouen

UN new Rouen cultural media one appeared on instagram during the summer of 2022: Meetings on the terrace. Via this Instagram account, we discover artists, craftsmen, creators or even traders – “All those who make Rouen and its agglomeration live” – interviewed facing the camera in front of a beer or an apple juice.
“We thought it would be good to have a broad-spectrum media, while remaining on the dynamics of our city that we love, and which is super rich in many things”, underlines Florie, one of the three friends, with Lucile and Ysoline, at the origin of this meeting.
“Making you want to discover more”
In practice, the trio arrives with a table in a place chosen by the invitation, then asks it a series of simple and often open-ended questions. “We make a fairly global presentation”, describes Lucile. “The format must be four minutes at most, continues Ysoline. It goes very fast. The idea is to make people want to discover more by clicking on the links in the description of the publications. » Each artist or place mentioned in the invitation is referenced.
The idea of the terrace is a nod to Rouen. “There are a lot of them here. It’s something quite cultural in Rouen. The idea for this medium came to them during a lunch on the terrace. And it all happened very quickly. “We came to see Prisme create his fresco at the Espace du Palais, says Lucile. Ysoline said she wanted to make video, and I wanted to present actors from Rouen. It was enough to launch a spontaneous brainstorming.
The roles are distributed naturally: Ysoline takes care of the video and the editing. Lucile produced the illustrations – especially those of the table that serves as a backdrop -, and Florie manages social networks, among other things.
Other formats to come
Camille Boulard, alias Prisme, was the first to inaugurate the formula. Then it was the turn of Thomas Lamboy and Lounin. Other names have already been announced, such as the manager of La Sauvagette, an artisan florist based near the Saint-Maclou church, or the guitarist duo Si Senior. “We shot a lot of things, we plan to release a video at least every two weeks,” says Florie. Also creators, the three friends will lend themselves to the game by presenting themselves via their media, even if “the goal is not at the base to put themselves forward”.
In the future, the trio is also thinking of setting up another small workshop presentation format with shots. “The goal will be to come back to the people interviewed whose work we don’t show that much in the videos,” says Lucile.
Rouen has a rich pool of talent to feed the content for the coming months. “In the interviews, on request to each of the names of inspiring personalities, says Lucile. And even if we’ve been there for a while, we’ve discovered people we don’t know. “Les Rencontres aux Terrasses could also venture elsewhere in Normandy, always keeping Rouen “in the heart of the capital”.
