“Long Night of Museums” opens 47 doors
Culture
On Saturday evening, 47 exhibition halls across the country open their doors. During the “Long Night of Museums” participants can visit various exhibitions in the city and province of Salzburg from 6 p.m. to midnight.
47 museums are taking part this year – significantly fewer than before the coronavirus pandemic. In 2019 there were 68. Nevertheless, a diverse program has been put together, including special program items, explains Petra Horn, the organizer of the “Long Night of Museums”: “It ranges from children’s handicrafts to lectures such as homosexuality in antiquity in the cast collection to to Porsche exhibitions in Mattsee. There are dance performances in the Trakl-Haus as well as lightning tours and talks. You can even spend the night in the Trakl house this year.”
There is a separate program for children. 25 houses offer child-friendly games, workshops and exhibitions, complemented by Petra Horn.
18 museums and galleries in the countryside
In the rural districts, 18 cultural centers are taking part. Heinz Tischer also opens the door to his studio in Schwarzach im Pongau: “I will show you acrylic paintings, watercolours, copper engravings and etchings. It is immersion in the colorful world of painting and graphics.”
There is one ticket each for the city and state of Salzburg, which allows entry to the respective museums and galleries. In the city of Salzburg there is also a free shuttle bus.
