Olivier Veigneau : “I put away the cleats and retired from playing at that time. It had been twenty years since I had left the family. With my wife Virginie and our two children (Leny and Mila-Rose), who were born when I was at the FCN (2011-2015), we decided to return to the south of France and settle in La Turbie, a border town of the Principality of Monaco where I had built a house during my football career. The living environment is really comfortable and pleasant. I saw myself continuing to play one or two more in this region but apart from Marseille, Nice and Monaco, the possibilities were not numerous and I did not want a twisted plan. So, I preferred to stop. »
What was your conversion project?
“I didn’t want to pass my coaching diplomas but I saw fit to stay in the football world. I learned about training in management to work in the administrative field. I also passed a training of recruiter. I imagined myself becoming a team manager, a kind of relay between the players, the technical and medical staff and the administrative staff, whose role is to organize the player’s life off the pitch (management of medical appointments, organization of trips, installation of footballers in their new accommodation, etc.).
