Passions continue to rage in our south-west neighbor North Macedonia after our national football team won 1-0 away to Skopje in the last match of the Nations League.
Another scandal shook the local football community, its initiator being the legendary Goran Pandev. The 39-year-old former leader of the Macedonian team dismissed the criticism of the heads of the local football federation.
“A lot of people recognize what I’ve done, but there are those who don’t. The Football Federation of North Macedonia has become a private business, and if something doesn’t change, it will go back a long way,” he blurted out in an interview with TV24.
Goran Pandev adds that politics is introduced into everything in North Macedonia: “I don’t want to talk about politics, but here, in North Macedonia, there is politics in everything. This thing probably doesn’t work. Everyone knows it, but no one comes out to say it publicly.”
Pandev said that he expected the match with Bulgaria to have a political dimension, but he paid more attention to the weak performance of North Macedonia.
