Gas from Norway began to flow to Poland
Gas began arriving in Poland via the new Baltic Pipe gas pipeline from Norway via Denmark and the Baltic Sea on the morning of Saturday, October 1, Polish pipeline operator Gaz-System will complete.
The pipeline is at the heart of Poland’s strategy to diversify gas supplies away from Russia, which began years before Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in February triggered a global energy crisis.
The representative of Gaz-System completed the supply this morning, and applications or requests for gas supply through the gas pipeline on October 1 amounted to 62.4 million kWh.
The pipeline, with an annual capacity of 10 billion cubic meters, was officially opened on Tuesday, a day after a leak was discovered in the underwater Nord Stream gas pipeline connecting Russia to Europe.
Russia stopped supplying gas to Poland in April when it refused to pay in rubles.
Now, on September 27, the opening ceremony of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline with a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters per year from Norway to Poland took place in Gdańsk.
Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko said that Ukraine expects to increase the reliability of gas supply after the launch of the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline.
