“For me, Trapp is the best!” |
Frankfurt boss opens goalkeeper discussion on TV
This phrase will make waves…
Frankfurt’s sports director Markus Krösche opens the goalkeeper discussion with the national team after Eintracht’s 2-0 win against Union Berlin!
Krösche says on Sky about Kevin Trapp: “For me he is currently the best German goalkeeper!”
National coach Hansi Flick has decided on a different order in goal: Manuel Neuer is number one, his representative is Marc-André ter Stegen, Trapp number three.
The Frankfurt goalkeeper didn’t like that at all. Trapp wanted to be at least number two. The fact that he was not used at all in the two international matches against Hungary and in England gnaws at the ambitious goalkeeper. To relieve his frustration, he came back to Eintracht training a day earlier.
When asked about the Krösche statement, he reacts flattered, but also evasively: “Well, when the boss says that, it’s of course very nice. I think I’ve made good progress since the last game. I try to help the team and the club.”
Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner: “Of course, when the sporting director says that, he’s right. He’s been playing at the current top level for a long time. I’m glad he’s with us.”
Against Union he was hardly challenged except for two scenes, but then Trapp was there! Trapp parried twice sensationally against Skarke. It is understandable that Krösche stands out with the fourth win in five games and Trapp’s great performance.
Since his debut in 2017, Trapp has been in the national team six times – but only in friendly matches and one game in the Nations League.
Let’s see what Neuer and ter Stegen will say about the statements. A lot can happen before the World Cup in November…
