A general debate on the follow-up and implementation of the “Vienna Declaration and Program of Action” was held at the 51st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on Friday. Chen Xu, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, called on all countries to comprehensively implement the program of action, promote economic, social, cultural and political rights of citizens and make new advances in the Switzerland to promote international human rights issues.
Chen Xu pointed out that development law should be promoted. Under the current situation, developing countries face serious challenges to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. The international community should review the spirit of the program of action, actively promote global development, and effectively protect people’s development right. China’s Global Development Initiative aims to give new impetus to the accelerated implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the recognition of development law, according to China’s Ambassador Chen Xu.
