I took inspiration from Levi Stubbs, David Ruffin, Jimmy Ruffin, The Iceman Jerry Butler, Diana Ross and The Supreme, Dobie Gray and Scott Walker, among others. And I tried to do justice to all of them and to the great authors of this glorious music. My goal is to make contemporary audiences experience beauty and joy as I have since I first heard it.. I hope you will love listening to these songs as much as I have loved making them ».
